Reyna Brown

Clinical Apprentice

Reyna is grateful to have been born and raised in the Kootenays with a love and respect for wild places and to know plants as friends and teachers from a young age.

Through an interest in plant-human relationships and how they shape our lives, Reyna studied anthropology in post-secondary before eventually finding the path of Herbal medicine. Studying Herbalism felt like a natural evolution in understanding the wisdom of our ancestors and the role of traditional medicine in improving health and wellbeing in contemporary life.

Reyna has deeply enjoyed studying various aspects of herbal medicine and eventually Clinical Herbalism with Emery Herbals as well as Dogwood School of Botanical Medicine for the last five years. She is honoured to be able to continue learning through the clinical apprentice role, and looks forward to deepening her understanding of client centered care with Colleen Emery at the Healing Suites of Emery Herbals.

She sees herself eventually working within clinical practice with a strong focus on how nourishing foods and functional fitness can contribute to overall health and resilience, with the help of traditional and evidence based use of herbal medicine.

She currently works as a Wildland and Volunteer Firefighter, is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Life Sciences and in her spare time enjoys surfing, running, cooking, gardening and travelling.
