The wonder and magic of Nature has been present in Colleen Emery’s life from a young age, shaping and cultivating her connection to the natural world. Professionally involved in the Healing Arts for over twenty years, Colleen brings a diverse toolbox of skills that have been honed through formal education, apprenticeship, clinical experience and connection to generational folk arts.

Colleen has formerly studied with various institutes including The Wild Rose College, East West School of Planetary Herbology, The Pacific Institute of Aromatherapy, the New York Institute of Aromatic Studies and most currently with David Winston’s Centre for Herbal Studies. Colleen maintains professional membership as a Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT) with the Canadian Herbal Association of British Columbia (CHAofBC).

Educated and experienced in both Eastern and Western focused Herbal Medicine and Clinical Aromatherapy, Colleen’s practice specializes in Family Wellness, Pre and Post Natal Wellness and Eldercare providing affordable care for all ages. Offering comprehensive health strategies that are aimed at delivering practical strategies Colleen’s focus is on building foundational wellness and vitality.

After having an urban, home based practice for over a decade, Colleen created Emery Herbals Dispensary, Healing Suites and Teaching Centre in the small village of Winlaw, BC. Emery Herbals provides open access to consciously sourced botanicals, professional health services and empowering education experiences that encourage and cultivate sustained wellness.

Colleen is passionate about empowering individuals and families to take charge of their wellness through fostering traditional skills and connection to the natural world. Offering a dynamic array of programs and workshops for both adults and children, Colleen is sought out to speak on numerous topics.

Committed to a low impact, net positive life, Colleen, along with her husband and daughter, live off grid in a small footprint, straw-bale home where Colleen is able to live primarily car-free in a rural setting the majority of the year. Colleen also sits as Vice-Chair on the West Kootenay Permaculture Cooperative Association’s Board of Directors working to encourage local food security through education and community outreach. Colleen also sits as a general board of director with the CHAofBC. Most recently Colleen co-organized the Kootenay Herb Conference hosting the event in Winlaw, BC.



Health and Wellness Initial Consultation

Your first appointment with Colleen is called the Initial Consultation. You will be asked to fill out a comprehensive intake form where you will have an opportunity to detail your health history, lifestyle choices and potential health concerns you are seeking support about and any health and wellness goals you may be working towards. It is requested that clients bring copies of any lab or blood work or functional testing paperwork and/or blood work recently completed to this appointment.

Skype and/or phone appointments are available. If accessing your appointment distantly thought Skype and/or phone consultation images of your left and right irises and tongue, top and bottom, are requested.


What to Expect at your appointment

In this first consultation you will share tea with Colleen while reviewing your health history and detailing areas of concern. Colleen will utilize certain evaluatory tools such as iridology, kinesiology, Chinese tongue and pulse diagnosis, functional reading of lab work, blood pressure and temperature reading and so on.

Through this assessment, together with Colleen, you will develop a health strategy ready to implement into your life that will be unique to you. A summary of your wellness protocol will be provided.

The world of Aromatherapy is vast and intricate. Are you looking for a personal scent true to your nature? Or, needing a blend to diffuse in your business or home that is your signature scent? Whether your need be therapeutic or esthetic in nature, Colleen will help guide you to find the aroma that most describes your current situation.

In this unique session, you will work with Colleen to create your very own aromatherapy blend, custom blended from a vast library of pure essential oils from all over the world. Over a cup of tea, Colleen will share and suggest scents to complement your own unique style and personality. You will also learn basic essential oil blending and application, leaving with an aroma true to your needs, as well as the ability to re-create it and others at home on your own.

Time commitment: 60 minutes

Investment: $60 (cost of blend not included)


The Emery Herbals mentorship program was created from over a decade of of engaging and involving Student Herbalists of all levels in the organization and development of many of the programs, dispensary offerings, and online opportunities.

Colleen Emery has a diverse and multi-faceted practice that encompasses several approaches to Herbal Medicine including Western, Eclectic, Ayurveda, & TCM. Through this multi-discipline lens, Colleen offers students of Herbal Medicine unique explorations of learning that are experiential and critical thinking. Students who mentor with Colleen are looking to deepen their understanding of the plant world and ways of applying herbal medicine for holistic wellness.

Colleen also offers mentorship within the field of Clinical Aromatherapy, Medicine Making and Formulation, Iridology, Kinesiology as well as Holistic Business Management.

She is currently not accepting mentorship requests for product development.

* Longer Term Mentorship is also available in the form of Apprenticeship. The Emery Herbals Apprentice Program is currently undergoing restructuring. The new and improved program will launch in the Winter of 2020. Interested students are encouraged to send Colleen a cover letter detailing their interest and experience with herbal medicine along with an up to date resume that includes 4 industry references.
