The wonder and magic of Nature have been present in Colleen Emery’s life from a young age, shaping and cultivating her connection to the natural world. Professionally involved in the Healing Arts for over twenty years, Colleen brings a diverse toolbox of skills that have been honed through continued formal education, apprenticeship, clinical experience and connection to generational folk arts.

Committed to a journey of life-long learning, Colleen has formerly studied with many institutes and mentors including most recently with David Winston and his Centre for Herbal Studies. Colleen maintains professional membership as a Registered Herbal Therapist (RHT) with the British Columbia Herbalists Association.

Colleen Emery is a Clinical Herbalist who has been in a client centred, barrier free herbal medicine practice for over two decades.

Educated and experienced in both Traditional Eastern and Contemporary Herbal Medicine approaches to Clinical Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy, Colleen’s practice mandates affordable, reduced barrier care for all ages. Colleen has a keen interest in her clinical practice supporting inclusive generative and reproductive wellness, children’s health and eldercare. In the past 5 years her practice has specifically focused on complex health conditions.

Colleen balances her approach by bridging traditional knowledge of plant medicines with up to date clinical research and hands on experience cultivated through two decades of client centred, reduced barrier clinical work in a holistic, energetic practice.

After having an urban, home based practice for over a decade, in 2012 Colleen moved Emery Herbals to the West Kootenay Mountains and expanded to house a Compounding Botanical Dispensary, Healing Suites and Teaching Centre in the community of Winlaw, BC.

Emery Herbals provides open access to consciously sourced botanicals, professional health services and empowering education experiences that encourage and cultivate sustained wellness.

Colleen is passionate about empowering individuals and families to take charge of their wellness through fostering traditional skills and connection to the natural world. Offering access to both onsite and live, online workshops and programs, Emery Herbals provides experiential mentorship opportunities on numerous topics including single day skill building workshops and longer more involved professional herbal and aromatic medicine training programs.

In the past 5 years Colleen’s focus has been on providing access to herbal medicine training for senior students interested in obtaining clinical hours and support for client centred, energetic clinical herbal education and training experience.

Colleen sits as President of the British Columbia Herbalist’s Association (BCHA).  Colleen co-organizes the Kootenay Herb Conference,  the Vancouver Island Herb Gathering & the Canadian Herb Conference and is on the faculty of the Wild Rose College.

Herbal Medicine Consultation

Health and Wellness Initial Consultation 1:1 with Colleen

Before we meet, new clients will be asked to fill out a detailed intake form with health history, lifestyle choices and health concerns, including any wellness goals you are working towards. We ask for clients to provide copies of any recently completed lab/blood work plus images of your eyes and tongue, instructions provided.  To book an appointment please email Colleen. 

What to Expect at your appointment

During the appointment, Colleen reviews your health history and listens to your story. A complete assessment will be conducted that includes tongue and pulse diagnosis, functional reading of lab work, vital signs along and other holistic techniques. Appointments available both onsite and online.

Following the appointment a holistic wellness strategy will be created unique to your specific needs and concerns. A complete summary will be provided and specific botanical medicine formulations may be recommended and prepared specifically for you and your wellness goals.

 Clinical Apprentices & Associates

The Emery Herbals Clinical Apprentice Program   offers herbal medicine students access in experiential support for taking theory into application.

Our Clinical Apprentices are those currently working toward their practicum hours within the Herbal Medicine Clinic under the supervision of Colleen Emery. Low cost care options are available through this access.

Our Clinical Associates are those that have completed their training and are registered as professional members with the BCHA as Registered Herbal Therapists.

Mentorship, Speaking & Reciprocity

Passionate about empowering folks to have agency of their wellness, Colleen Emery is committed to providing access to mentorship experiences that liberate, inspire and motivate. With all original content, Colleen has written curriculum for over 15 workshops and long term program intensives.

As a warm and engaging speaker Colleen has been sought out to speak at numerous events,  conferences and colleges and sits on the faculty of Wild Rose College.

Through our programs and services at Emery Herbals, Colleen Emery actively contributes to the community by way of the Pay-It-Forward program, aiming to reduces barriers to wellness care.

Actively contributing to the community of Herbalism, Colleen dedicates her time as a volunteer as President of the British Columbia Herbalists Association / BCHA and to the organizing committee of the Canadian Herb Conference.
