Crazy Eight!

Crazy Eight!

The Pickle turned eight this weekend. Can you believe it?! It seems like just yesterday that she was just a wee babe, hanging out in her sling, nuzzling at the breast, sporting the latest in cloth diaper chic. How they grow so fast!! Before our very eyes our wonderful babe has turned into an amazing young lady on the cusp of a whole new era of learning, growing and just being. Daily I am reminded to mentally take a snapshot of this time, for it too will be a memory before we know it.

Husband and I have been so excited to give Pickle her birthday present. Remember back in September when we won the longboard in the silent auction? Since then our good friend Carmie’s husband Todd has been secretly getting it all ready with the right trucks, wheels and bearings. I am so glad because that end of the longboard thing was way above my head. I know Husband could have done it but how would we have kept it a surprise?

So, the flushed cheeks. When we took this picture, lovely daughter was in the midst of a fever of about 39 C. She had been courting some kind of immune suppression all week. Whatever it was would come and then it would go but on Thursday it became obvious that whatever had flown in, had landed and was sticking around. By Saturday morning we were on the phone postponing the party, freezing the gluten free, naturally sweetened cupcakes and bedding down for the day.

For me it was a time where I could apply all that I had been suggesting to clients on how to treat this virus. It was obvious, the Pickle had all the symptoms of the flu, whether it was the HINI or the regular, she had it. By the end of the day she as feeling a lot better, the cough had loosened and she was riding the longboard back and forth in our tiny living room.

When we woke up today her fever had broke and she was feeling well. She has a bit of a running nose and coughs only slightly once and a while. She is on the mend. It didn’t take long and it wasn’t scary. It was okay. I am excited that all the remedies, herbs and nutrients worked in her little body to combat this virus.

Happy Birthday my beautiful daughter, I am so very blessed and grateful to be sharing my life with you!!
