Emery Herbals Celebrates Five Years in Winlaw!
March 5, 2017 Colleen Emery

February 2017 marks Emery Herbals fifth year of business in Winlaw! Six years ago Colleen, along with her husband and daughter moved from inner city Alberta to live in an off grid yurt with outdoor plumbing and minimal electricity. Having had a thriving at home business in the city for over a decade, Colleen made the decision to rent a small space in the Cedar Creek Gardens and move Emery Herbals into there, starting what is now expanded into Emery Herbals Botanical Dispensary, Healing Suites and Teaching Centre. Emery Herbals provides open access to consciously sourced botanicals, professional health services and empowering education experiences that encourage and cultivate sustained wellness.

Our Botanical Dispensary is stocked with consciously sourced botanicals emphasizing local, sustainably harvested and/or organically grown herbs. We provide professional compounding services for local and distant practitioners as well as custom blending for local and distance customers and clients. Our tinctures are created in house using organic cane alcohol and local, purified, spring water. Our tea blends are small batch prepared ensuring quality and freshness. Emery Herbals curates a line of ethical sourced essential oils to which Colleen has formulated a line of essential oils blends. Our shelf ready line is available both on our website and in house for clients and customers. We also have a lovely offering of local artisanal consignment, honey, books and more!

Our Healing Suites offer the professional health services from a variety of local health providers including Colleen Emery, Master Herbalist and Clinical Aromatherapist, Brendan Murray Nellis R.Ac of Raven Acupuncture; Larry Zaleski, DC and Sue Mistretta, M.A. CCC of Hand and Soul Wellness; and Jessie Speirs, ND of Kootenay Naturopathic.

Our Teaching Centre has a diverse offering of engaging educational experiences that are focused on empowering individuals and families to foster connection to the natural world through experiential learning opportunities. Our programing includes The Weekly Children’s Herb Club, The 9 Month Holistic Herbalism program intensive, The Art of Aromatherapy Essential Oil Intensive, A three-tiered Apprentice Program, and several workshop offerings such as Fermenting, Medicine Making, Radiation Protection and more! The fall of 2017 we will launch our Junior Apprentice Program geared towards local teens and peer mentoring.

Emery Herbals also offers a unique program called the Community Supported Wellness Program. Similar to a CSA program your local farm might offer, our CSW is a way to purchase your wellness support in one bulk payment, yielding medicine, learning and health and wellness guidance through a 4 season approach.

Emery Herbals serves as the office of the West Kootenay Permaculture Cooperative where you can purchase a membership in the coop, sign up for workshops and get information about their programs and projects.

The community and regional support extended to Emery Herbals over the past five years is so gratefully received. We thank each and everyone of you who has supported us over these years, our success can be contributed to your support!When-you-look-at-life-through-eyes-of-gratitude
