Mycomedicinals and Dual Extraction PART TWO

Join Patrick Kooyman and Colleen Emery for a venture into the world of mushrooms and medicinal extractions. This two part workshop combines a adventurous mushroom hunt and expedition with classroom discovery of mushroom identification skills, dual extraction techniques and therapeutic uses and clinical applications of mushroom medicines.
Day: Saturday, September 21st, 2019
Time: 9 AM – 4 PM
Location: In the Winlaw area TBA Off site followed by in classroom at the Winlaw Elementary School
Part one of this two part workshop series involves a morning mushroom expedition followed by an afternoon in the classroom learning the fine art of dual extraction for mushroom medicine.
Day: Saturday, October 26th
Time: 10 AM – 2 PM
Location: Classroom workshop at the Winlaw Elementary School
Part two of this two part workshop series finds us finishing our dual extraction and discussing the various techniques and options for this extraction method. We will also explore therapeutic and clinical application of mushroom medicine including when to implement this form of plant medicine, when not to, correct dosage and more!
Topics covered in this workshop include: 
  • Safe and Ethical harvesting of mushrooms
  • Mushroom botany and identification skills
  • How to create a spore print
  • Dual extraction techniques for mushrooms
  • Application of this form of plant medicine

Workshop Fee 
$80 plus GST includes a bottle of multi-mushroom dual extracted tincture created during the workshop series.
Must be paid in advance either through e-transfer as directed in the checkout or by bringing payment to Emery Herbals Botanical Dispensary during business hours.

About our Guest Instructor: 

Patrick Kooyman is an herbalist, ethnobotanist and wildcrafter living in Nelson, BC. He has studied traditional plant use as medicine and food in western Canada, as well as western and scientific approaches to herbal medicine. Patrick is co-owner and founder of Blue Lotus Ethnobotanicals, a small company providing handcrafted herbal tinctures, syrups and salves made using ethically wildcrafted and organic ingredients, as well as culinary mushrooms and other non-timber forest products.
