Soup and Soap

Soup and Soap
November 17, 2009 Colleen Emery

I want to share with you all today a passion of mine: Cottage industry, Home Based Business. Back when the Pickle was only a dream I began to shape and form what would eventually become Emery Herbals. Through many trials, many errors and lots of learning I am in a place now where I practice what I love everyday. Going to work is exciting, fresh and interesting every time. I am truly blessed to love what I do and do what I love.

Being that I am the sole proprietor of a small home based business I have a real interest and desire to support others like me who are doing it for themselves. From time to time I will be showcasing such small businesses that are so inspiring, creative and unique.

Two such businesses are Do Be Clean and Spoon Fed Soup.

Leona, the proprietress of Do Be Clean, happens to be my next door neighbor. Often I arrive home to the beautiful scent of handmade hemp soap coming from her home as she crafts away making the most amazingly lovely soap. Every bar is created by Leona and made by hand. I just love this soap so much, I literally go through withdrawal when I am without it. I am so lucky that I can just hop next door for my fix but for the rest of you its just an email away. Edited to add: Come and see Leona this weekend at This Awesome Event.

Spoon Fed Soup has been nourishing my family for a long time now. Carmie, the owner of this unique business, is an amazing chef who has created delicious and interesting soups and salads named after interesting characters she has met along her journey. The soup is all natural, delicious and delivered to your doorstep every week. That is, if you are lucky enough to live in the inner city here in Cowtown. Fear not though, you can always arrange to pick it up from her kitchen instead. Check out the website for details. You can also follow Carmie on Twitter.

I will leave you today with a Buddist proverb that I love so much: “Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart give yourself to it”
