"I began apprenticing with Colleen in 2012 with her children's herbal education program, Herb Club. Through this phase of my apprenticeship I learned hands-on medicine makings skills, began materia medica study and learned of the countless ways that herbal medicine can support children's wellness and engage creativity. This start to my herbal studies was a truly rich experience as it introduced me to herbal medicine gradually by working with a specific herb each week. After two years of helping with Herb Club I moved into the dispensary where I continue to receive weekly training from Colleen in making medicine, formulating, and the practical skills of running an herbal business. The Holistic Herbalism Foundations Program taught by Colleen was a mind blowing experience for me. I’d been dabbling in herbal lore for years and decided I wanted something deeper. Colleen Emery’s Holistic Herbalism Foundations was the education I needed to understand the herbal books that were filling up my bookshelves, and utilize the medicinal plants that seemed to be accumulating in my gardens. Her holistic, inclusive approach to teaching provides a well rounded education that grounds you both in modern scientific understanding of plant medicine alongside traditional use. Colleen’s teachings proved so useful to me in expanding my use of my books and gardens that I enrolled in the program twice, gaining even more knowledge my second time through.
