Holistic Herbalism Advanced Clinical Observation Program

Gaining experience in a clinical setting with mentorship is paramount to a Herbal Medicine Clinical Student in training.

Hours and hours are spent by Herbalists in training learning about therapeutics, materia medica, pharmacy, and so much more, this theory so essential to the volumes of knowledge needed to sit with clients and be of service as complementary, holistic health care providers.

Theoretical learning is the basis for what becomes experiential activity. The next step naturally leading to working with people and herbal medicine together, within a professional setting.

Being guided and encouraged by qualified and experienced clinicians brings a solid backbone of practicum mentorship that creates a holistic and well rounded Herbal Medicine Clinician.

It is recommended that the student clinician gain a total of 500 hours of supervised clinical training in addition to 2000 hours of herbal medicine based education experiences. Once met, the student then can register with a provincial association as a Registered Herbal Therapist.

The Holistic Herbalism Advanced Clinical Observation Program is a unique experiential program offering supervised clinical hours for the Student Clinician in training.

Offered once every 2 years this program is instructed and facilitated by Colleen Emery, Cl.H, RHT (BCHA), bringing over 20 years of clinical experience in client centred care models.

Different from our Student Clinic Program, our Observation program offers students who are just beginning their journey with supervised clinical training. A large emphasis in this program is learning the structure and organization of clinic and being an active observant in the clinical process.
